Smoking Ban at Casinos as from 1 June

01.06.2008
"Although the law permits smoking at casinos on certain conditions, members of the Estonian Association of Gambling Operators (EAGO) decided to put an end to it as from 1 June," Managing Director of the EAGO Tõnis Rüütel said. He added that during the intermediate months, all the companies had had time to make the necessary rearrangements and, if required, establish special smoking rooms as has been done at many other public undertakings.

Mr Rüütel stated that the decision meant another major investment requirement for entrepreneurs during the past year. "At first, the ventilation systems of all the casinos were brought into conformity with current legislation, and by now, many casinos have already made huge investments into the building of smoking rooms conforming to contemporary norms." The EAGO was founded in 1997 and its members are eleven operators of games of chance.

At Bally’s Casino, one may smoke in the spacious smoking room on the ground floor of the building.
