Game play
Blackjack is a card game based on the principle of "21", where Kings, Queens, Jacks count as 10, Aces as 1 or 11 and number cards count at face value. The players play against the dealer. At the beginning of the game 2 cards are dealt for each bet made and the players can take additional cards. The dealer is the last to take cards; his cards must add up to 17 or more. Then the scores of the dealer and the players are compared and the one scoring highest is the winner. All bets win, once the dealer's score exceeds 21. The bet with an equal score is retained. Winnings are paid 1:1, with Blackjack (a two-card 21) the payout ratio is 3:2. Splitting If the player receives a pair (the first two cards are of the same value, e.g. 8+8, 10+K etc., the player may split the two cards into separate hands. This may be done by adding an equal bet. It is allowed to split into 4 hands at maximum. Doubling The player is allowed to double the bet on his first two cards and draw only 1 additional card. Split cards may also be doubled. Insurance If the dealer has a Blackjack, the bets all lose except for the Blackjack. The player has the option of taking insurance against the dealer's possible Blackjack, when the dealer's up card is an Ace or a face card/10. The insurance bet can amount up to half the player's original bet and is paid off 2:1 in case the dealer is dealt a Blackjack. In case the dealer doesn't have a Blackjack, then the insurance is forfeit. Surrender Surrender is available when the player has not drawn any additional cards to the first two, thus getting back half his bet. Surrender is not allowed after splitting and also when the dealer's up card is an Ace. Good luck! |
